AC not as cold as it used to be – recharge or bigger issue?
I've had my 2013 BMW X1 for about four years now and the AC has always been ice cold, but this summer I've noticed it's just not keeping up like it used to. On a really hot day, it takes maybe ten minutes to get comfortable instead of the usual two or three, and at idle in traffic it blows barely cool air. No weird noises, no leaks that I can see under the car. A friend said it might just need a recharge because refrigerant naturally leaks down over time, but another person warned me that if it's low it means there's a leak somewhere and just topping it up is a temporary fix. I've been looking for proficient climate control abu dhabi shops that can do a proper leak test and evacuation before recharging, not just hook up a can from the auto parts store. Has anyone here had a slow loss of cooling that turned out to be a simple O ring or valve core leak rather than an expensive evaporator or compressor? Trying to figure out if I should bother with diagnosis or just live with it since the car is older anyway. Thanks for any input.
