Badoo, the social network for meeting new people, wanted to find out what Spanish women think about relationships. To do so, it conducted a survey of more than 1,300 users, ranging in age from 25 to over 55, and with all kinds of educational specific database backgrounds. They were asked, for example, whether they would be willing to propose to their partner or whether they think it should be the man who initiates the conversation when getting to know each other. In general, Spanish women have proven to be modern and unprejudiced when starting a relationship. For example, 39% of those surveyed would introduce themselves to a man if they were attracted to his physical appearance. Furthermore, regarding initial introductions, 90% of women believe it depends on the situation: only 9% believe it should be initiated by the man, while the remaining 1% believe it's up to the woman. One thing Badoo users emphasize Our social network, they find it very easy to meet new people who, in many cases, become an important part of their lives, whether as friends or partners,” explains Amy Mills, Badoo's communications director. “Specifically, Spanish women have shown through this survey that they are daring and prefer to have a modern approach to their relationships with men, even taking the lead,” she adds.
Better online It seems that the internet, and specifically social networks like Badoo, are considered a good tool for connecting with the opposite sex. Thus, more than 1,000 women surveyed, representing 82% of the total, would prefer to introduce themselves to a man online because it's "less intimidating" than doing so in person. Similarly, when asked "Have you ever introduced yourself to a man or made the first move to start a conversation with someone?" 40% admit they've done so online or via text, and only 5% say they've never done so online. On the other hand, 48% prefer to do it in person. Regarding how a website like Badoo can facilitate contact with other people, Blanca, a user from Huesca, says: “I'm very happy. I met the man of my life, and he thinks the same about me. We're the same in every way: we have the same values, the same thoughts and opinions, we live close by, and we understand each other very well. We met through Badoo. I'd seen him on the street before, but I never thought he'd be my ideal partner.” When he is younger The survey also raised the issue of relationships with younger men. In this regard, Spanish women also demonstrate that they have no qualms. A resounding 88% say they would be willing to date men younger than themselves, although 62% admit they would not actively seek such a relationship. And 85% of the female users surveyed have dated or regularly gone out with a younger man. Their reasons for doing so vary widely: 42% say it was based on a previous friendship; 20% say it was because they knew it would be a temporary affair that wouldn't lead to anything serious; 12% believe younger men have more energy; 9% did it because the man in question was more handsome, while another 9% say it helped boost their self-confidence. The remaining 8% believe it was more fun. “Thanks to Badoo, I met the most wonderful guy in the world, who is also my future husband. Although he was older than me, we started talking online and a month later we started dating. We've now been together for four years. If it weren't for Badoo, I might still be waiting for my Prince Charming,” explains Tania, a user from Ciudad Real, regarding relationships with older men.
