Major vs minor service – what actually needs doing at 80k km?
So my 2018 Explorer just hit 80,000 kilometers and the dealership is quoting me an insane amount for what they call a "major service" but when I look at the list half of its just inspections and fluid top ups I could probably do myself. I'm trying to figure out if I really need to replace things like the coolant and transmission fluid now or if that's just them padding the bill. A few friends told me to look for a place that offers both major & minor services in Mussafah since the labor rates are way more reasonable than the dealer and I could just pick what actually needs changing based on the owner's manual. Thing is I've never taken my car anywhere other than the dealership so I'm a bit nervous about switching. Has anyone here done a major service outside the dealer around this mileage and regretted it or was it totally fine?
