AION 2 is moving into a major pre-launch testing phase with NC’s two-day Launch Scale Test scheduled for September 17 and 18. The event will allow players to experience a limited build before Founder’s Pack Early Access begins on September 30. For anyone interested in Aion 2 Items, the test offers a chance to become familiar with the game while NC checks whether its infrastructure can handle increased player activity.
NC is making the event accessible to the wider community. Players do not need an invitation, registration, or special key to participate.
Both Steam and PURPLE will support the Launch Scale Test. This broad availability should give NC a more realistic picture of how its infrastructure performs when many players attempt to connect and play during the same periods.
Pre-downloads are available from September 16 at 6 AM PT through September 17 at 6 AM PT. Installing the test build before the deadline can help players get into the game without spending valuable testing time downloading files.
The first session runs from 6 AM to noon PT on September 17. The second session begins at noon PT on September 18 and ends at 6 PM PT. Players should keep the schedule in mind because the event uses specific testing windows.
Progress from the first session will remain available during the second session. This allows participants to continue exploring with their existing temporary characters.
All progress will disappear after the test. NC has confirmed that test data will not carry over to Early Access or the full release.
Players will also face a level 37 cap. This prevents access to higher-level content and keeps the test concentrated on the portions of the game NC wants to evaluate.
The Launch Scale Test will not include purchases. The shop, Quna, passes, memberships, and other payment systems are all disabled.
The Marketplace and Quna Exchange are also unavailable. In addition, player-to-player trading will not function. These limitations mean the event will not provide a complete demonstration of the live game's economy.
Founder’s Pack items will be disabled during the test, including for players who already own the relevant packs. The Closet feature will also be unavailable.
Consequently, players will use default outfits during the event. While this reduces the number of available customization options, it keeps the test focused on infrastructure and core gameplay rather than optional features.
Steam users have an additional requirement after the test. They will need to uninstall the Playtest application and separately download AION 2 for Early Access on September 30.
PURPLE players will not need to perform additional steps. This makes it useful for Steam participants to understand the installation process before the test ends, particularly if they plan to continue playing during Early Access.
The September event is only temporary, but it can still provide valuable hands-on experience with the game. Players can learn the early progression structure, test their preferred platform, and help NC identify infrastructure issues before permanent characters arrive. Once the live game opens, the broader economy will become available, including options involving Aion 2 Kinah for players planning their resources.
For now, the most important point is that the Launch Scale Test should not be treated as permanent Early Access. The level cap, disabled economy, limited customization, and eventual data wipe are all part of its testing purpose. The permanent AION 2 experience begins later, with a much wider range of systems available to the community.
